Karyne (00:00:07) – Hi fantasy readers. This is Karyne Norton, your fellow book binger, and you are listening to the Finding Fantasy Reads podcast where you can test out a new fantasy story every single week to find your next favorite author.
Today you get two stories instead of one, and while they both come from the same anthology called Fantastic Creatures, they feature very different sorts of creatures.
This first one gives you a glimpse into goblin culture and traditions, and it’s written by Arthur Daigle, who is a bit of a creature expert thanks to his degree in biology and his previous work as a zoo intern and fishery biologist. More recently he grades high school essays, and you can expect to see more books from him because all attempts to stop him from writing have failed. Stick around to the end of the story or check out today’s show notes to see where you can find more from Arthur.
For now, please enjoy Celebration by Arthur Daigle.
Paeter (00:01:09) – Celebration is read by Paeter Frandsen. Due to copyright, the full transcript of the story cannot be included here.
Karyne (00:23:10) – I hope you enjoyed listening to Celebration by Arthur Daigle, narrated by Paeter Frandsen of Christian Geek Central. If you want to read more by Arthur, follow him on Amazon or Facebook, and I’ll have direct links to both in the show notes. If you enjoyed his take on goblins, you’ll want to check out his William Bradshaw series.
Next up we have a new take on a more common creature with a story featuring a dragon. It’s written by Katy Huth Jones, who grew up in a family where creative juices overflowed and made puddles to splash in. She has been a published author since 1992, and her writing journey has taken her in many unexpected directions. Though she appears to be an unassuming grandmother, she has been a homeschool band director, a Boy Scout leader, a Little League coach, played piccolo in a symphony, fife in a Revolutionary War fife & drum corps, and re-enacted Martha Washington with her very tall Texan husband as George in costumes she made from period patterns. Thanks to God’s mercy, she has survived cancer twice.
This second story is also narrated by Paeter Frandsen, host of Christian Geek Central. Stick around to the end or check out today’s show notes to see where you can find more from both Katy and Paeter!
For now, please enjoy The Very Last Dragon by Katy Huth Jones.
Paeter (00:24:29) – The Very Last Dragon is read by Paeter Frandsen. Due to copyright, the full transcript of the story cannot be included here.
Karyne (00:46:40) – I hope you enjoyed listening to The Very Last Dragon by Katy Huth Jones, narrated by Paeter Frandsen of Christian Geek Central. If you want to read more by Katy, go to katyhuthjones.blogspot.com to find more of her books. If you’re listening to this between March 10th and 14th of 2026, she even has a bonus free story for you that you can snag on Amazon called Finn MacRorie and the River Dragon. I’ll have the direct link in the show notes. And if you’re listening to this later on, you can still snag the story at its very low regular price of 99 cents.
If you enjoyed listening to Paeter narrate the story, you might also enjoy listening to his audio dramas at spiritblade.com, or his podcast, Christian Geek Central, where he discusses movies, video games, and all things enjoyed by self-proclaimed geeks from a Christian worldview.
If you haven’t already subscribed to the Finding Fantasy reads podcast, find that little button on your favorite podcast platform that lets you follow it. It increases the podcast’s visibility on podcast platforms, which helps both authors and listeners find the show, and in turn, that means I can continue to give you more short stories for even longer.
As always, I will have links for all those sites in the show notes.

Katy Huth Jones grew up in a family where creative juices overflowed and made puddles to splash in. Arthur Daigle was born and raised in the suburbs of Chicago, Illinois. He received a degree in biology from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign, which sounded like a good idea at the time. This led to work as a zoo intern at Brookfield Zoo, an assistant fisheries biologist at the Max McGraw Wildlife Foundation, and a research assistant at Morton Arboretum. Most recently he’s been employed grading high school essay tests and working as a garden associate (yeah, the job market is that bad). In addition to writing, Arthur is an avid gardener and amateur artist.
Arthur is the author (no jokes, please, he’s heard them all) of ten books. These include William Bradshaw King of the Goblins, William Bradshaw and a Faint Hope, William Bradshaw and War Unending, William Bradshaw and Fool’s Gold, William Bradshaw and Urban Problems, William Bradshaw and For a Song, Dana Illwind and Growing Shadows, Dana Illwind and War’s Shadow, Goblin Stories and Dr. Moratrayas Mad Scientist. These books were almost inevitable given that the author has been a fan of science fiction and fantasy since he was old enough to walk. Arthur is also a regular contributor to the Fellowship of Fantasy anthology series. Major influences include the works of the puppeteer and filmmaker Jim Henson and the British artist Brian Froud. Expect more books from Arthur, as all attempts to stop him from writing have failed.
