Karyne (00:00:07) – Hi fantasy readers. This is Karyne Norton, your fellow book binger, and you are listening to the Finding Fantasy Reads podcast where you can test out a new fantasy story every single week to find your next favorite author.
Today’s story has intrigue, heists, and dragon eggs. It’s written by Jessica Deen Norris, who grew up playing with Ninja Turtles as much as Barbie dolls. She was born and raised in Louisiana and still lives there with her husband and five children. Their hearts for adoption led them to adopt their youngest son from China, who was born blind, but hasn’t let that slow him down. As a former junior high and high school English teacher, she’s now living out her dream of being an author. Stick around in the end or check out today’s show notes to see where you can find more from Jessica.
For now, please enjoy Behind the Shadow Knight’s Mask by Jessica Dean Norris.

Featured Author
Growing up, Jessica played with Ninja Turtles as much as Barbie dolls. She had to be home in time to watch the Power Rangers every day, and she will forever be the Pink Ranger.
And then there were the books—so many good books. She loved getting lost in new worlds, and eventually, making up her own. She doesn’t think it can get better than that, except with a big mug of Community Coffee in her hand.
She was born and raised in Louisiana, so what other coffee brand is there? She still lives in a small Cajun town with her husband, where she homeschools their five children. They have a special heart for adoption, as that’s a large part of their family story. Her husband was adopted as a baby, and they knew they would adopt one day as well.
After having four children, health issues prevented her from having more. They traveled with all of the kids to China and adopted their youngest. He was born blind, but don’t let him fool you – it doesn’t slow him down in the least.
Jessica is a former junior high and high school English teacher, but she always dreamed of being an author. Now that dream has happened with the publication of her first novel, Firesight. It’s a little hard to believe that she got to live in those characters’ heads, and now readers can too!
Narrator
Karyne Norton hasn’t found the key to time travel, immortality, or infinite lives, so she’s taking a break from nursing and photography to focus on raising four human beings while writing epic fantasy.
