Karyne (00:00:07) – Hi fantasy readers. This is Karyne Norton, your fellow book binger, and you are listening to the Finding Fantasy Reads podcast where you can test out a new fantasy story every single week to find your next favorite author.
If you enjoy serial fiction, or if you’ve been wanting to test it out, you’ll want to stick around for today’s story. If you’re not familiar with serial fiction, it’s a bit like TV episodes, where you get snippets of a story in each episode, and they’re all part of a much bigger story. Some episodes are strongly connected, while others function as stand-alones. I’ve mostly seen this type of fiction on Kindle Vella and Royal Road, and while both have fantastic stories, I’ve found a lot of them to be filled with content that doesn’t fit the ratings I’ve set up for the podcast, which makes them difficult to recommend or share.
However, today’s episode features the first two short stories included in Daniel McCormack’s serialized fiction Tales of Teltra, which is hosted on his Patreon site. He’s committed to keeping the content both high-quality and family-friendly. Daniel was shaped from a young age by the gentle woodlands, lonely moors, and windswept coast of the Cornish landscape. He has an abiding love of all things Middle-earth, Earth-sea, and the Wheel of Time. He lives in Cornwall with his wife and children, and tries to split his time between his writing desk and exploring nature with his family.
