Karyne (00:00:07) – Hi fantasy readers. This is Karyne Norton, your fellow book binger, and you are listening to the Finding Fantasy Reads podcast where you can test out a new fantasy story every single week to find your next favorite author.
You’ll want to stick around for today’s story if you like elves and bromance. It’s written by HSJ Williams, who has always been fascinated with the magic of imagination, whether in word, art, or costume. She lives in a real fantastical kingdom, the beautiful Pacific Northwest, with her very own array of animal friends and royalty-loving family. Williams studied and taught fantasy illustration in art school and long dreamt of illustrating her own books, a dream that’s now been realized. She may also be a part-time elf.
Today’s narrator is Paeter Frandsen, host of Christian Geek Central. Stick around to the end or check out today’s show notes to see where you can find more from both the author and the narrator. For now, please enjoy King and Knight by HSJ Williams.
Paeter (00:01:17) – King and Knight is read by Paeter Frandsen. Due to copyright, the full transcript of the story cannot be included here.
Karyne (00:30:50) – I hope you enjoyed listening to King and Knight by H.S.J. Williams, narrated by Paeter Frandsen of Christian Geek Central. If you want to read more by Williams, go to hsjwilliams.com to find more of her books. Her ongoing series, Kings of Aselvia, has more of Arranz and his kingdom of elves, and you can snag more short stories about them when you sign up for her newsletter. I’ll have a direct link in the show notes.
One thing that’s very unique about her world is that it’s connected to the world created by her dear writing friend Bryn Shutt. In this particular story, Desmond is a character she borrowed from Bryn’s world because over the years of creating their stories, they found their characters also becoming friends, and they created a few crossover tales for fun. These small cameos make occasional appearances throughout their books, which is such a fun thing I’ve never seen done before, and I absolutely love it. So if you want to learn more about Sir Desmond, you’ll want to check out Illuminare and the rest of Bryn Shutt’s oncoming releases. I’ll have a link for it in the show notes.
If you enjoyed listening to Paeter narrate the story, you might also enjoy listening to his audio dramas at spiritblade.com or his podcast, Christian Geek Central, where he discusses movies, video games, and all things enjoyed by self-proclaimed geeks from a Christian worldview.
If you’re enjoying listening to Finding Fantasy Reads, please consider leaving a review. I think people have gotten used to leaving reviews for books and purchased products on places like Amazon, but podcast reviews are helpful too. It’s the first place people look before deciding if they want to dive into a new podcast. If you’re not sure how to leave a review, check out today’s show notes for some easy instructions.
Thank you all for listening, Happy New Year, and happy reading.
