Karyne (00:00:07) – Hi fantasy readers. This is Karyne Norton, your fellow book binger, and you are listening to the Finding Fantasy Reads podcast where you can test out a new fantasy story every single week to find your next favorite author.
Do you like fairy tale retellings? How about sassy protagonists? If you said yes, I think you’re going to love this story. I loved it, both when I first read it and again when I had the opportunity to narrate it. It’s written by Allison Tebo, who is committed to creating magical stories full of larger-than-life characters, a dash of grit, and plenty of laughs. Her A Villain’s Ever After novel, The Goblin and the Dancer, was a Realm Makers Reader’s Choice finalist, and her epic fantasy retelling of Beowulf, called Break the Beast, went on to win the Christ-Lit Award. When Allison’s not creating new worlds with words or paint, she enjoys reading, baking, and making lists. That last one immediately made her best friend material.
Stick around to the end or check out today’s show notes to see where you can find more from the author, as well as how to enter our newest giveaway. For now, please enjoy Waxing and Waiting by Allison Tebo.
Karyne (00:01:27) – Waxing and Waiting is read by Karyne Norton. Due to copyright, the full transcript of the story cannot be included here.
Karyne (00:48:08) – I hope you enjoyed listening to Waxing and Waiting by Allison Tebo, narrated by Karyne Norton. If you want to read more by Allison, go to allisonteboauthor.com to find more of her books. However, right now she’s gearing up for a Kickstarter for her Christian epic fantasy retelling of the Legend of Beowulf, which I’m super excited about, because you all know how I get excited about Kickstarters. So I’ll have a direct link for that as well in the show notes.
This month we have a brand new audiobook giveaway, sponsored by our past and current featured authors. You’ll notice today’s story was a fairy tale retelling, and I have three more episodes featuring retellings for the month because I’m a nerd and I thought it would be fun to match the giveaway theme, which is fantasy retellings. In addition to a three-month Audible subscription, we’re giving away four audiobooks featuring fantasy retellings, including Heartless by Marissa Meyer, Beyond the Four Kingdoms, a box set with three fairy tale retellings by Melanie Cellier, Echo North by Joanna Ruth Meyer, and Dust by Kara Swanson. If you want a chance to win, go to findingfantasyreads.com/giveaway to enter. It’s open internationally and it takes less than a minute to not only enter, but to follow all the authors and get extra entries.
As always, I will have direct links for all the sites I’ve mentioned in the show notes. Thank you all for listening, and happy reading!
